Get the Lo-Down on the Library!
Q: When is the library open?
The library is open from Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3:00pm. If you visit the library between 7:30am and 7:50am, you can't stay and hang out. You must check-out books or get tech help, then report to your grade-level's designated morning area. Students who are visiting the library without their classroom teacher must have a library pass from their teacher. This year, students CAN NOT visit the library during Falcon Time for book check-out. You CAN visit the library for check-out during Directed Studies.
Q: How many books can I check out?
Students may check out up to three books at a time. Students also have access to an unlimited number of ebook and audiobook checkouts.
Q: How long can I keep a book?
Books are checked out for 3 weeks (21 days), with the option of renewal. If the book is a GRAPHIC NOVEL, you can check it out for 1 week. The due date is stamped on the card in the back pocket of the book. If another student has a book on hold, you can't renew the book. Books will not automatically renew, so you will need to visit the library in order to do so.
Q: Can I put books on hold?
YES! Just log in to your library account and find the book you want. Click the "Hold" button. You can have up to 3 books on hold at a time. When your book is ready, we will have it delivered to your class!
Q: Where do I return my library books?
There are 2 options. If you're in a hurry and don't have time to come inside the library, use the book return cart in the main hallway outside the library doors. If you are entering the library, there is a book return slot (just look for the bloody hand!) where you can return your books!
Q: What if I don't return a book on time?
Some libraries charge a late fee for each day a book is late. Our library does not! What we really want is the book back in the same condition it was in when you checked it out. We understand that sometimes you forget to return your books on time. Just return the book...please!
Q: What if I lose a book or it gets severely damaged?
Life happens. We get it. But we want every student to have be able to enjoy all the wonderful books we have! Please take good care of your library books! Let Mrs. Whitlock or Mrs. Rockett know if you think you lost your library book. Sometimes teachers and students find lost books and return them. So it's possible someone found it and turned it in. If in fact the book is lost, we will let you know the replacement cost of the book. Students who have a lost book will not receive their report card until we receive payment for the book or the book is found.
